Trouble In The Land

You know there's trouble in this land, (Bless my Lord)

This beautiful isle of sunshine,

Trouble in this land... O Lord have mercy.

In the year of 1958 the twelfth of January,

About 8A.M. hotel workers strike beginning at Emerald Beach,

Then it came on to Balmoral, O boy they heard the news,

They to had pitch their jackets off and beat their way for home.

Then it came right to the Dolphin, My, my how news can spread

Her workers took their jackets off and leave that Dolphin beds.

Then it came to the British Colonial, Great God they heard the news.

They cry out not a work, then join in with the strike.

And all those other places like Bahamian Country Club,

(Bass. Great God so Peter told James and James told John and they all walked off the  jobs).

Then it came to the Royal Victoria, the eldest in the land,

Her workers heard about the strike and they "to" walked off the job.

Well it flew to the Montaqu, My Lord how news can go.

This makes me think of Asparagus, How fast they do grow,

From 8A.M. to 9.30 six hotels got the blow.

They all cried out saying no, not a sweat, then walked out like the rest.

There was no violence, no worker looking sad.

(Bass. Great God for they only struck in sympathy with the union taxi cabs).
